Weekly Roundup - Feb 11 - 17

It's going to be another busy week on and off the courts, so read on to make sure you don't miss one minute of the fun!

The Luck of the Draw Tournament was fully booked within 5 minutes of the RSVP opening! Now that's what we call ENTHUSIASM! Linda Chadwell is once again co-ordinating this fun tournament which will be held on Friday, February 16th. We hope to see everyone there cheering on the players and enjoying the afternoon. Members are reminded that all 7 main courts are reserved for this tournament, but the tennis courts are available for open play in the afternoon.

Last chance to RSVP for the Pickleball Mixer on Thursday Feb 15th in the Ballroom. Please indicate the side dish you will be bringing. Cost to members is $3, $5 for non-members. This month's host are Marie Anne and Brad Faasse, and Gil and Barb Delaurier. Come out and join in the fun!

Did You Know...

• The first official pickleball tournament was held in 1976, and the International Federation of Pickleball (IFP) was founded in 1984.

• The first world pickleball championships were held in 2016 in Canada.

• The USA Pickleball Association (USAPA) was founded in 2005 and is the official governing body for pickleball in the United States. The USAPA sanctions tournaments and maintains the official rules for pickleball. There are over 16,000 registered pickleball players in the USAPA.

• All 50 US states and over 50 countries play pickleball.

• The National Pickleball Championship is held annually in November in Casa Grande, Arizona.
