Farewell, but not goodbye...

As many of you know, Ken and I made the difficult decision to sell our home here in GCRV last month and I wanted to take this opportunity to say farewell.
Five years ago we landed here in our 26' trailer, joined the pickleball club and quickly realized how special the organization was, and what an asset it was to the resort; so much so that we bought a park model and started getting to know everyone. Always one to get involved, I volunteered to be the treasurer and to build the club's website. The last 2 years have been rewarding for me personally and I am grateful to the board members I had the pleasure to work with for their support and friendship. I hope you all realize how very special the group of individuals are who volunteer each year to bring to the membership a cohesive, competitive and highly social club. Their dedication to the sport and this resort is nothing short of amazing!
While everyone of the 70+ volunteers generously offer their time and expertise, (and the club cant survive without you!) if you haven't already done so, you need to thank Jennie Clement for her undying efforts as club Secretary. She is the glue that holds this club together, the mother to the new hens that join the board each year and the rudder that quietly steers the ship. Give her a hug, she deserves it. I'll miss you, Jennie.
Many thanks also to Dave Trimmer and Jan McCreary for their solid leadership and dedication in moving the club forward for ALL levels of play. Dave, you never failed to make me laugh - I'm looking forward to doing some biking this summer! And best of luck to Dean Hultman and Ken Copeland who take over as co-presidents this year - these are big jobs but I hope you can continue the work that has been started. Fingers crossed for the 4 new courts!!!
Over the last 5 years Ken and I have forged so many amazing friendships through the club and we are very sad to leave it behind, especially because we feel like we were just getting to know a lot of you a little bit better. We will miss the impromptu gatherings in our back yard when any of you dropped by on your way to or from the courts. Be nice to the new owner - maybe her bar will always be open too! And as we all know, life holds many surprises so you never know, we may be back... In the meantime, if you get to Vancouver Island, look us up, we would love to see you.
I wish all of you much love, good health & happiness and of course many, many more games on the pickleball courts. Be kind to each other, and remember, we are all children of one earth.
You two will be missed. I really enjoyed playing with you. Good luck, and don't be strangers.
