The season closes on the Big Dills

Sadly the APPL season has now closed for the Big Dills in 2026. Without a doubt it was the best season the Dills have experienced in four years with the most team wins and great new friendships established between all teammates.
We finished on top of our division and played in the Regional playoffs this past Wednesday. The guys played hard against the Mesa Regal RoadRunners, the number two team in our Division. The RoadRunners brought out their best palyers against our best and we were unfortunately defeated 28-19. We did, however, blow the other team away with our supporters, who easily crowded out their supporters. Thank you to all those who came out to cheer on the Big Dills throughout the season.
We finished the day with an impromptu happy hour social at the nearby Kona Grill with many of our supporters joining along with us. The Big Dills will return stronger next year as each year we advance a little further and closer to the State Championships.
Kathy Young & Tracy Hauck are team members on the 3rd Shot Chics, a 4.5 skill level 65+ Women’s Division team. The team qualified for the State Championships so there will be some representation from Gold Canyon. Kathy will be playing with the team on Monday (30th) at the El Mirage RV Resort courts. We wish their team a huge success in their upcoming match.
Finally, there is a rumour of a new local team that may enter the APPL field for next season. Keep your fingers crossed for the ladies to organize and add a new level of competitive play to our park and our club. Perhaps another flavour of the Dills will emerge!
